Support for Students with Disabilities

The College is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities and/or learning difficulties are treated fairly. All reasonable adjustments to provision will be made to ensure that individuals are not substantially disadvantaged.

Students who require additional support can be assessed and appropriate support discussed. We can provide in-class support for students or we can offer assistance outside the classroom. Some examples are:

  • Assessment and specialist support from highly qualified tutors for students with dyslexia
  • Educational interpreters for hearing impaired/deaf students
  • Special arrangements, such as extra time in examinations
  • In-class or mentoring support for students with mental health or emotional difficulties, physical or mobility disabilities, ESOL needs or difficulties with learning.

Other measures to improve accessibility include:

  • Accessible parking
  • Ramp access
  • Toilets with access for mobility impaired students, staff and visitors
  • Lift access to most areas within the College

Support is also available for any student who requires assistance with English, Maths or Language Skills. A highly trained team will assess individual needs and agree a personal development plan with each student.
