In order to access the scheme you will require assessing contact with students who are studying on an NVQ programme. Although formal qualifications are not required, you should be able to prove occupational competence in your vocational area.

Assessor Award Level 3
Description
Assessors are the skilled trainers responsible for assessing NVQ units. They work with candidates in a variety of ways to enable them to achieve their NVQ qualification.
On completion of the Assessor Award you could consider progression to the Verifier units.
Level 3 Assessor Award
The course is completed on a self-directed study basis with assessor support.
To gain the full award you will complete the following elements
Elements:
• Developing plans for assessing competence with candidates
• Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
• Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
• Contribute to the internal quality process
You will build a portfolio of evidence in the workplace which will be assessed within the college.
You will be visited in the workplace if required and appointments with you assessor can be made to suit your employment
Progression
The Assessor Award offers progression routes onto a higher level award:
• Verifier Award
You can further progress to a teaching qualification (PTLLS/CTLLS)
