Qualifications required
Normally applicants will have successfully comleted a Foundation Degree, HND or HNC programme in a related programme. Applicants with non standard experience and qualifications are welcome. All applicants will need to demonstrate by portfolio and interview that they are ready for specialist higher education study at an advanced level.

Description
An Award of Leeds Metropolitan University
This is a one year top up programme that enables those who have prior learning in design to continue to Honours Degree level. You will gain in depth knowledge and understanding of design, materials, structure and construction in their chosen field.
Emphasis is placed on the development of independence as designers through transferable skills, technical competence and analysis and evaluation of design research.
The programme incorporates commercial awareness relevant to the design industry through competitions, live projects, client led briefs and work placements. A dissertation or suitable alternative form of presenting theoretical
research based work forms an important element of this programme.
You will also develop critical and reflective skills throughout the programme and are encouraged to attend the regular visiting speaker events.
Progression
Post graduate study via an MA or PGCE, or work in the industry and as freelance designers or designer/makers.
Additional Information
Mature students may be eligible to apply through APEL (Approved Prior Experiential Learning), followed by an interview.
