Additional Information

This course is an exciting, intensive, fast moving programme
involving continuous assessment and close working relationships between students and tutors. You will have a personal tutor and a tutorial group for support.

The first stage of the course is primarily analytical, concentrating on a fundamental studies programme of 2D and 3D work through structured projects. Supported further by educational study visits both in the UK and abroad. In the second stage there is a greater emphasis on specialist studies. This involves a progressive programme of projects allowing your individual character and ambitions to develop. This course prepares you for porfolio construction and the UCAS interview process.

A need for self-motivated ideas and practice is instrumental in the transition to a third stage, which confirms a chosen specialism. The culmination of these studies, which coincides with your application to your chosen University or Harrogate College, involves staff and
students working together to devise a final major project, which will form part of the Art, Design and Media Summer Exhibition at the end of the course.

Harrogate College has excellent workshops, studios,
equipment and resources to fully support the Diploma in Foundation Studies. A studio fee will be payable at enrolment. Advice on materials will be provided at interview.
