The Extended National Diploma is a well established programme which develops skills and awareness in Art and Design and leads to opportunities in Higher Education in your chosen pathway.

The course is made up of 18 units which cover wider skills and experiences in Art and Design, within the first year, followed by units within your own chosen specialist area. The units are taught and experienced through project based work to enable you to develop your skills and pursue your own interests within your chosen area. Functional skills are followed by all students on this programme.

Following the interdisciplinary programme during the first year, you can choose your prefered route for the second part of the course. This will enable you to pursue your own area of interest, leading to progression to Higher Education or possibly employment in your chosen area.

Year 2 - The Fine Art pathway enables you investigate your own chosen interest and initiate your own work programme within the field of Fine Art.

Following the interdisciplinary programme in the first year you will go onto explore and gain skills in a range of Fine Art disciplines.

Mixed Media
Painting
Printmaking
Sculpture
3 Dimensional Work
Animation
Fine Art Textiles
Illustration

During this vocational pathway you will receive a high level of guidance and tuition from tutors who are themselves practising artists. The programme is studio and workshop based but visits to galleries and other creative environments are planned and are a vital part of your
development as an artist.

Progression

You can progress to further study at BA (Hons) and Foundation degree level in Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Illustration, Mixed Media, Ceramic Sculpture and other Contemporary Fine Art disciplines.
