HCUK Student Maintenance Allowance

Financial support for new 16-18 full-time students

What is the HCUK Student Maintenance Allowance?

Following the Government’s withdrawal of Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA), Hull College Group has launched new financial support funds for full-time 16-18 year old students.

Students that meet the criteria will be eligible to receive one of the following bursaries:

  • A guaranteed bursary of £1,225 to a small group of the most vulnerable students such as those in care, care leavers, those on income support, and students who receive both Disability Living Allowance and Employment Support Allowance or Disability Living Allowance and Incapacity Benefit.
  • A means-tested bursary of up to £840 for all other eligible students.

The HCUK Student Maintenance Allowance is designed to help students with the costs associated with studying, including travel, meals, books, equipment and materials. Help with the costs of childcare will still be available through the Care to Learn Fund.
